Walk Five – Tree trunk

A bit more time today, because darling Robin took Xavier to his friend Sam’s birthday party. I spotted a few things on my walk that I’ll be able to draw very quickly when the weather is freezing. Best to prepare myself for when this challenge gets really challenging. As it is, I was frozen by the time I finished this drawing, and poor Rufus really couldn’t understand why his mistress was sitting down half way through a walk when there were all those exciting smells to be enjoyed.

Hi Julie - what a fantastic idea!! Well done. I love your drawings and this tree is especially expressive. I hope that you meet your goals - your fitness level is sure to improve as well as you drawing skills which are already substantial. I really admire what you are doing!

Julie -- I was telling my husband about this idea and he thought it was a great one! My mile (plus) actually involves walking around the block a couple of times -- but since the whole neighborhood is woodsy, there are enough goodies along the way to pick up and see to give it a try. I'm going to go pick up one of the small Moleskines either tomorrow or Monday -- so I'll be with you!

That is one gorgeous tree. I love the old knotty limbs and gentle colors.

You have such a way with lines ... I am in awe. I also really admire that you've taken on in this challenge when you live in a place that so often has inclement weather. Here in southern California it's really never a problem to spend an hour outdoors at some point during the day. So, goodonyamate (as we Aussies say).

Julie, love, LOVE, love your tre- mendous tree! I'm so tempted to join you. What a fantastic idea you've run with here. I have very little confidence in myself to keep up but your year I'll follow gladly.

again, another very nice painting. Curious, did the tree really have a green tint to it, or was that just use of artistic license? either way, nice job!
